Frequently asked questions

This will of course differ depending on the weather and the person - but we'd recommend packing lightly. The more you take, the more you have to carry! We would suggest wearing walking boots and comfy clothes. It gets hot on the trek so bring sun cream and a hat.

If you're staying overnight, it can get cold in the evenings so bring a jumper - or two - and a torch is always helpful. We will provide food and water, and we can also provide sleeping bags and sleeping mats if you let us know in advance. You can leave the walking sticks to us too! You may also want to bring hand sanitiser and toilet roll for along the way.

You can pay in Malawian Kwatcha or US Dollars. We accept cash on the day of arrival.

For overnight trips, the vast majority of our guests choose to have a porter and this is included in our package. The porter will carry all your food, water and sleeping bags up the mountain and this can be quite a help! Not only that, your porter will also carry pots and pans to ensure you have a cooked meal to start and end the day. If you would like to carry your own food and water, please let us know and we can remove this from your package.

Over the years, Sipatwe Peak has been conquered hundreds of thousands of times, from school students to people over the age of 60. It is certainly challenging but definitely doable! On average, it takes 2-3 hours to climb Sipatwe Peak from the nearest overnight lodge. If you want to give it a try, we can build this in to your itinerary, and make changes along the way if needed. There are other beautiful peaks to explore across Mulanje Massif.

There are a number of overnight lodges across Mulanje Massif. These are all basic accommodation, ranging from private rooms to shared sleeping huts. The owner of the lodge will provide hot water and toilet facilities are available. We will organise your stay at the lodges so you don't have to worry about it.

Our packages include entrance fees to Mulanje, an experienced guide, a porter (if required), and all your food and drink for your trip. There are no hidden costs or taxes. You may just want to bring a little extra cash to tip your guide, porter and overnight lodge owners if you're happy with the service provided.

No, we will provide walking sticks. But if you have your own, we welcome those too.

Our overnight packages include all your food and drink for the duration of your trip, and your guide will cook your meals. This will take into account all dierary requirements. If you would like to bring your own food and drink, please let us know and we can arrange this. Just email or whatsapp us for a separate quote.
